Overview & History

Issued to mark the 125th birth anniversary of Dr. Panjabrao alias Bhausaheb Deshmukh (1898–1965), a social reformer, educationist, and the first Agriculture Minister of independent India. He dedicated his life to the welfare of farmers and established the Shivaji Education Society to make education accessible to rural communities. This coin celebrates his work in agriculture and social justice.
